As in the original Shakespeare play, the scenes will unfold in Denmark, mostly in and around the great castle of
Elsinore. Upon the death of the elder King Hamlet, the Duke Claudius has ascended to the kingship, and in
addition has married the old king's wife, Gertrude. Unknown to all in the beginning, Claudius has come to this high
state by the murder of his brother. Prince Hamlet will be informed of this terrible circumstance by a visitation from
his father's ghost, setting into motion the great tragedy.
In this presentation of the play the scenes have been adapted into poetic recitations, presented through the eyes
and thoughts of four central characters of the play: Prince Hamlet, his lover Ophelia, his mother Gertrude, and his
friend, the scholar Horatio.
